Worth-the-Cost Hair Products, Because You’re Worth ItThe best things in life may very well be free but, looking pretty while you’re enjoying those things comes at a cost. And there’s nothing more disappointing than shelling out loads of cash for products that let your look fall flat. So to avoid styling snafus, we’ve spoken to some of our favorite stylists to get the skinny on products that will help you look priceless. Cesare Safieh, stylist and product engineer, has styled some of TV’s most notable leading ladies (think 90210’s Lori Laughlin and the like). In order to keep the stars looking stylish, Safieh uses and recommends Alterna products. This high-end salon staple line is packed with enzymes to improve hair as it cleans, conditions and styles. Safieh insists that, when it comes to getting great hair, it’s best not to skimp on the products one uses.
Once you’ve procured a good clean & condition ritual, you’ve got styling to worry about. PrettyCity spoke to another renowned stylist and high-end salon veteran, Fabio Scalia (of Fabio Scalia Salon and NYC’s Jeunesse Spa). Scalia shared his must-have product lines including Shu Uemura and Kérastase, noting that "Both companies spend more money on research and testing for their products than other mass lines and, as a result, deliver more than other mass brands.”
Finally, we got the scoop on what a girl wants from Naomi Porto of DEX New York. This regular stylist for fashion’s elite insists that great hair is all about health, and recommends the Esuchen product line to keep hair in top shape. She also mentions that you can make salon color, precision cuts and in-salon conditioning treatments last longer with the right care. According to Porto, “If you are investing in high quality hair services such as hair color, precision cuts and in salon treatments then it only makes sense to invest in the same quality with your at home care.” And, her philosophy when it comes to dishing out the dough for these high end products? “If you love your hair, then it's worth it."
And when in doubt, Porto assures, ask your stylist for suggestions, explaining, “Sometimes people try to self-treat their troubled hair and get worse results. The stylist can re-direct your hair to a renewed condition with the correct, specific at-home products and practice.” The moral of the styling story is to stock up on products that pack a punch and that will keep hair healthy and moisturized. Despite higher prices, these products deliver salon-quality results to ensure that your hair’s color and health remain in tact longer.Beauty
