Spring Hair at Its Best
We got a clue on what's hot in hair for spring by warming up with the experts from Vidal Sassoon Salon. We were presented with Sassoon's new looks just days after the big reveal of their little secret at the Midwest Hair show where we learned all that's new and happening in hair this spring. Judging by the chosen new styles of Hollywood's most forward-thinking celebs, think Rihanna and Michelle Williams, style this spring is all about short. The most current hair trends feature blunt fringe, complementary monochromatic colors and generously cropped cuts.
When it comes to a spring change, the most important part of a cut, color and style is how it suits the individual. Spring looks are not so much about creating a factory-standard cut on each style seeker entering the salon, but rather about creating a whole new cut to exude individuality while bearing in mind the season's most prevalent trends.
Creative Director Marilyn Harmon and Art Director Lori Potochnik of Sassoon Chicago agree that the perfect cut isn't about mimicking the latest coif to grace the cover of Vogue; it's about creating a shape that works for you. As a quintessential aspect of this spring's look, blunt fringe can appear in many different lengths. Harmon notes, "Fringe is so great because it can be cut to different lengths to suit all face shapes and personal styles." From barely there to brazenly long, this is a key aspect of this season's hair trends. We say spring hair is the best it's been. It isn't about cookie cutter looks or one-tone suits all color. Spring hair is all about you. Whether you keep your hair long and flowing, short and stylish or at a happy medium, embrace what works for you and let your individuality shine through.
