Chicago spas - reviews
Urban Oasis

Whoever said getting a massage or any other form of spa treatment was emasculating, hasn't been to Urban Oasis. This upscale massage therapy spa, with two locations in Chicago, is the only facility in the city that specializes in massage therapy exclusively.

And they had my respect from the get-go, when they told me to turn off my cell phone before entering. That is really what the spa experience should be about - tranquility, peace and no startling rings that jolt you from your massage table. This place is all about class. I was impressed with the modern furnishings, clean lines and courteous staff. Even the clients in the waiting area seemed very pleasant. I also enjoyed the complimentary natural fruit juices and herbal teas that are offered before and after treatments.

I thought my Massage Therapist was excellent. I had the pleasure of a 90-minute session that focused not only on my achy spots but on my legs, feet, arms and hands - you know we use those parts more than the others - they need that much-deserved attention. Her technique was great, she had a wonderful demeanor, and she made me feel quite comfortable. But what impressed me the most was that she has been in the business for three years and at Urban Oasis the whole time. Statements like that generally show that business owners care 100% about their business and their employees, and that's important.

The other feature that caught my attention at Urban Oasis was the Steam Showers. This is the most refreshing, neatest concept, it's like experiencing all the benefits a steam room or sauna but in the relaxing environment of a shower. Totally cool. Totally relaxing. I can see why they have a sign posted asking patrons to keep steam showers to 20 minutes. So here's a tip. Make sure you leave yourself 20 minutes in your schedule after the massage to indulge!

Urban Oasis features several variations of massage including Swedish/Esalen, Deep Muscle Therapy, Hot Stone, Sports, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Shiatsu, Thai, Reiki and Salt Glow.
