I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, hair can make or break my day. Unfortunately, it was breaking more days than I care to admit. That is until I discovered my troubled tresses’ saving grace: Tirra Salon and Spa. Located on Erie Street in River North, at Tirra, an Aveda concept salon,  pure bliss awaits. After checking in, I was led into the salon where I took a seat, enjoyed a cool glass of water, and anxiously waited for my turn to be pampered. Before long, my savior, ahem, colorist and stylist, led me to her station where the transformation begun.

My lifeless locks were in desperate need of repair. To start with, the color had faded and become dull. The stylist took one look at the hair follicle and knew exactly what to do. We agreed she would apply a rich chocolate brown to the top of the hair while allowing my natural red undertones a chance to shine.

After my stylist mixed the appropriate Aveda color formula, she applied it precisely to the top of my hair and allowed it to set. After about 20 minutes, she pulled the color through to my ends. Soon it was time to shampoo.

After taking a seat on the reclining shampoo chair, my feet were propped up, and I closed my eyes as I received a luxurious head massage. The invigorating scent of Aveda products filled my senses, and I felt completely relaxed. After massaging and rinsing out the conditioner, it was time to shape my hair.

My stylist brought the layers of my hair to life with an all-over trim. She suggested adding lots of layers to the style to allow fullness and volume. She also textured my bangs.

Soon, it was time for a blow out and style. When my hair was dried, styled with a round brush, and lightly sprayed for fullness, I looked and felt like a completely new me. My troubled tresses were now luxurious locks, rich in color and shine.
