In any big city one can find spas. But only Chicago is home to Spacio, an urban retreat that defines quality from its European water therapy room to two fully-stocked lounges for men and women to in demand treatments like the Brazilian Blowout to best in best product lines such as Decleor, SkinCeuticals, Davines, Glo Spa, [Comfort Zone] and Spacio’s own proprietary brand.
From the moment I opened the doors, the staff at Spacio were attentive to my every desire. After checking in, I was led to the ladies lounge where I slipped into a Spacio robe and sandals. After locking up my personal belongings in my private locker, I was able to relax as the soft sound of music enveloped me and the mahogany chairs cushioned me. Before long, my mind at rest, it was time for the treatments to begin.
First up, the Hydrotherapy Bath. Imagine this: You slip into a tub, emerged in warm water as 77 jets caress your skin with bubble kisses. It’s almost too good to be true. Almost. The lights are low and the soft glow of candlelight fills the air. With different speeds, the jets massaged every inch of my body, reducing tension in my muscles until I felt weightless, as if I were floating. With a cool, glass of water to hydrate me, this bath was a blissful experience that won’t soon be topped.
After 35 minutes of heavenly hydrotherapy, I toweled off and returned to the women’s lounge for the next stop on this luxurious spa day respite: Naprapathy. As my treatment began, Dr. Marc Margiotta, D.N., D.A.A.P.M, a Board Certified Naprapath, explained to me the need for Naprapathy and how it was going to help my body. Naprapathy is a hands-on technique where balance and nerve flow are restored through gentle manipulation of the vertebrae, muscles and soft tissues to bring the body back to its natural balance. According to the doctor, this treatment goes a step deeper than a massage would.
Dr. Margiotta began on my back, working all throughout the body. With gentle, yet effective, finger-palm pressure techniques, my body became loose and refreshed. When the Naprapathy was complete, I was in total balance. It is recommended that Naprapathy treatments be performed once a month, and depending on the person’s individual needs, as much as once a week. I strongly recommend this to anyone that suffers from stress or just needs to bring the body back to center.
Next up: my Personal Air Brush Tanning treatment. The highly trained technician made me feel so comfortable. Deciding the best thing for me was an all-over, natural glow, I stood in the spray area, and the technician went to work! Covering every inch of my body, in perfectly proportioned sprays, my body went from snow white to beachy bronze and, best of all, it looked completely natural on me with no fake, orange lines or streaks anywhere. Plus, Spacio technicians offer body contouring, using the airbrushing technique they can accentuate muscles arms or create newly taut-looking abs. The technician recommended that I let the spray dry on my body for eight hours before washing off the remains and then, with daily moisturizing, the tan would last anywhere from seven to twelve days.
And while some of the services found at Spacio appear to be standard spa fare, there’s nothing normal about the extraordinary treatments served up to discerning urbanites who demand the best. In any city one can find a spa, but only in Lincoln Park will you find a healing destination called Spacio.
