Kaya Day Spa
A Guy Review
The first thing I thought of upon entering this spa was that someone
could throw one heck of a cool party in this space. I was extremely impressed
by Kaya
Day Spa's openness and how "cool" the environment felt. I believe
it is the largest Spa in Chicago.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. It felt like they saw me coming
up the stairs and right through the front door. Let's get down to the
nitty gritty here and talk about the services. I am into taking a hot
tub on a regular basis. Though I do not take baths, I tried their hydrotherapy
bath because I figured athletes frequently received these. I also tried
the detoxification bath. It was pretty darn comfortable. I was helped
by Georgia, one of many employees who has been working at Kaya
since it opened. The bath is hot, yet "smart enough" to keep you cool
at the same time. It was pretty cool, and you do not break a sweat. It's
just raw, unadulterated therapy. I would recommend it for anyone that
hits the weights hard or just got their butt kicked on the basketball
court. It was extremely therapeutic.
After my entire body was loose and pretty relaxed, I got a 60-minute
deep tissue sports massage. Nikki, my massage therapist, packed one heck
of a punch. I am a pretty big guy so I was surprised that she gave me
every bit of what I could handle, and then some. She worked out kinks
that I had no idea existed. After being bathed and massaged, I got what
I consider regular maintenance, a Kaya Signature Gentleman's facial. It
is nice to know that my wife will not be able to find any flaky skin,
blackheads, or clogged pores on my face. Now, she can concentrate on more
important things. After a good facial, I feel totally refreshed, like
"a new man." By the way guys, a facial should be done once a month for
maintenance.
After I was relaxed and almost asleep, they guided me like an old blind
man into a separate manicure/pedicure room. I think I dozed off about
3 times on the way there. I had a very thorough Kaya Signature Men's pedicure
followed by a manicure and a nice and long hand, wrist, and arm massage
done by Karla. I sat in a large, comfortable chair in the decked out waiting
room, sipping my super cool iced tea, and watching television from a plasma
screen. I was treated quite well and wouldn't mind returning for additional
treatments with my Cronies. Kaya
Day Spa equals Good Stuff.
Oh, and one more thing. I met the owner, Maria, and the spa director,
Beth. Talk about individuals that care about their business. It is nice
to see two people on the same page, keeping their establishment first
class and top notch. You get the vibe from these ladies that it is imperative
to do whatever it takes to make you a regular client. Another cool perk
about Kaya
is that you can grab a great meal at Gourmet 47 Market and Café, located
directly underneath the spa. Afterall, a man has got to eat.
