Eyelash Extensions

Longer. Fuller. We all want lashes that flutter when we blink, especially this spa girl. My daily make-up routine consisted of four main products: Day crème, lip gloss, lash curler and mascara. When it comes to my most essential beauty item, mascara, I had tried them all- from Maybelline to MAC. Still, I remained in a constant search for the perfect lash.

When I first heard about Hair Base and the concept of lash extensions, I was intrigued. I have read my fair share about celebrity beauty boosts, so I knew this might be the ticket to bombshell lashes like Paris and Lindsay.

Grace, owner of Hair Base, assured me that the process would be painless and temporary (about four weeks). For a girl who is afraid of commitment but wants perfect lashes 24 hours a day, this seemed like a great way to try something new.

The treatment began as soon as I closed my eyes. Unable to see what was happening, I asked to be talked through the process. As I felt a lash tickling sensation, an individual lash extension was bonded to a natural lash. One by one, my esthetician applied approximately 30 lashes on each eye. She strategically placed the lashes where they would look the most natural and flattering.

Ninety minutes later, each individual lash had been set in place and trimmed to my custom length. To enhance the longevity of the lashes, a special clear solution is applied to seal the extensions. I inspected my enhanced peepers and was out the door. To be honest, my lashes looked substantially fuller, but (thankfully) still natural.

After showering the next morning, I couldn't help but stare at my new lashes in the mirror. It looked as though I had perfectly applied mascara on. With a little bit of face cream and gloss, I was on my way out the door- feeling fabulous, of course!
