As I rode the elevator up to the ninth floor of Chicago Water Tower Place, I couldn’t help but wonder where I was going. Just a few minutes earlier, I went to every floor until I was standing in the men’s department in Macy’s looking like a girl with no sense of style, trying to figure out how to get to the “ninth floor”. After discovering I had to go to a special set of elevators, I knew I was on my way, but to exactly where, I did not know. Then, I saw it. I had reached Elizabeth Adam Salon and Day Spa. As I stepped off the elevator, I felt like I had left one planet and entered a more peaceful, relaxed, and luxurious environment. I was greeted with smiles and led to the locker room, where I was able to change in one of the comfiest robes I’d ever felt. Seriously, I felt like I was wrapped in a giant Snuggle bear. As I slipped my tired toes into my sandals, I knew the next few hours were going to be ones to remember. The staff then led me to the spa area, which is uniquely separated from the activity of the salon. As I sat in the comfy couch, waiting for my facial to begin, I was in awe. The view of the city was so peaceful from the ninth floor. Who new all this could exist in Chicago Water Tower Place? Then I met the mastermind behind it all: Ms. Elizabeth Adam. She is one of the most skillful estheticians I have ever spoken to. As a member of the American Society for Esthetic Medicine, she knows her work from the skin deep. My facial was customized to my skins requirements, and she explained every procedure, making sure I was comfortable each step of the way. My facial was very advanced, filled with natural ingredients, a mask, and a tranquil massage of the hands, feet, and shoulders and neck. After two hours, my skin was glowing, and I felt like I was given a fresh, new complexion. Easing my way back to reality, I returned to the locker room, left behind that comfy robe, changed into my clothes and was ready for the finishing touches to my evening: hair! My brunette locks needed a touchup to enhance the richness of its color. I also felt the fine ends could use a trim to enhance the look of layers. My stylist knew exactly what I was aiming for and began transforming my hair into a work of art. After my color set, it was time for my hair to be washed. I can honestly say I had a head and neck massage that sent chills down my spin. After a long, hard day that is the way to set the night straight. Using her experience and technique, my hair was then crafted and styled to my liking and was ready for glam, glitz, or just an evening relaxing with a cup of tea. Whatever I wanted to do was my choice. I felt fantastic and looked terrific, and that, my fashionista friends, is no cliché.
