Just when I thought I was too busy for beauty maintenance - between work, socializing, volunteering, yoga classes and family time, I realized my nails hadn´t seen a proper mani in far too long and my roots were clearly visible (and not in that cool intentional way) - Chicago´s chicest mobile spa, Spa Where You Are, showed up on my doorstep on a Sunday morning. My buzzer rang and a friendly woman was standing at my door with a suitcase that I would soon learn was like Mary Poppins´ never-ending goodie bag. Filled with everything she needed to create the perfect home spa experience for me, she began setting up: out came bowls, towels, nail color, even a fully loaded iPod and dock to fill my living room with soft music. As she swiftly set up her workstation, I sat on my couch sipping coffee and enjoying the tunes, feeling thankful I wasn´t sitting uncomfortably in a crowded nail salon. After just a few moments, we began with my pedicure. The large selection of polishes from Essie, OPI and Zoya surprised me ("How does she lug all this around?"), but after some deliberating, I chose the perfect shade and we got started. Following a soak, foot scrub and massage, the wonderfully relaxing pedicure concluded and my perfectly polished toes were left to dry. As the polish on my toes set, I enjoyed the classic spa manicure, which was every bit as precise as those in nail parlors, and even more relaxing, since I was in my home. My nails were beautifully shaped and polished, and, after weeks of looking at chipped nail color, I felt like a new woman. When my services were complete, the technician cleaned up quickly and as easy as she came, she went. There was no mess involved for me. It was a relaxing hour that would have taken me three at a traditional spa (drive time, check-in, wait, service, drying, drive home). That´s the beauty of Spa Where You Are.
