In today's tough economic times, it can be difficult to justify the cost of heading to the spa. Especially since a few hours of well-deserved pampering can often mean breaking the bank. So, what's a spa girl to do when she's craving some spa R&R but barely has two nickels to rub together? Visit the home of the soon-to-be professionals, Pivot Point International Academy Student Salon. This school for stylists and estheticians in training offers salon and spa quality services performed by students of beauty. Plus, industry educators monitor each service, ensuring a professional experience at heavily discounted prices. With locations in both the city and suburbs, Pivot Point is as easily accessible as it is affordable. I visited the Bloomingdale Campus of Pivot Point. Conveniently located in a Bloomingdale strip mall with plenty of free parking, I was able access Pivot Point without a single glitch. After entering I was greeted by a friendly staff who led me to the back of the salon for my scheduled Facial. While the school is bustling with students and clients alike, the reserved spa area in the back of the salon boasts a more tranquil atmosphere. My student esthetician reviewed my personalized skin care chart and began customizing my facial. Meanwhile, I slipped into a terrycloth robe and slippers and awaited my treatment in the facial room. Here, facials treatments are performed in an expansive space. And although there were quite a few others receiving treatments at the same time as me, I was able to relax in the quiet space just as easily as if I'd been in a private room, relaxing to the serene music playing in the background. Before we got started, the licensed instructor reviewed the plan for my customized facial with the student esthetician and they made sure to account for my extremely sensitive skin. After that, I enjoyed an hour of pure bliss. Using Bioelements skin care products, my esthetician cleansed, toned, and moisturized my skin. After my skin was effectively cleansed and polished, the esthetician applied a nutrient-rich mask. And, while the mask set I was treated to a citrus massage for my neck, arms, and hands. When my Customized Facial came to a close and I changed back into my street clothes, my esthetician professionally recommended me an at-home agenda of Bioelements products to keep my skin glowing until my next facial. She recommended the Bioelements "Stress Solution," to treat my skin to some R&R, just as she had during my facial. I was then led back into the salon school and was ready for my Scalp and Deep Conditioning Treatment. The student stylist led me to the washbasins to rinse my hair and apply the RUSK conditioning treatment. The treatment included a scalp massage that seemed to quiet the bustling salon and left me incredibly relaxed. Next, the student stylist invited me to sit underneath a dryer where the conditioner could be enhanced by added heat. This process allows the conditioner to truly soak into the hair follicles from root to tip. After about 10 minutes relaxing under the dryer my stylist escorted me back to the washbasin to reveal my softer, shinier hair. A smooth, clear face and shiny, soft hair later, I officially gave the students at Pivot Point Bloomingdale an A+ for my day of beauty. I found Pivot Point to be a great way to enjoy a salon quality experience without incurring a heightened cost. The students at Pivot Point provide services from head to toe including Hair Services to Facials, Waxing, Makeup, Nail Services and even Spa Packages.
