This rotation and experience prepares them for careers as salon and spa professionals and clients are pampered and attended to by tomorrow's leaders in hair and beauty. In addition, the Academy Clinic also offers full lines of Bioelements, KeraCare, Rusk, OPI, Essie and Mizani products for retail purchase. I entered Pivot Point Lakeview on a blustery late fall day. I was quickly whisked inside, and was greeted by a friendly receptionist. The space was buzzing with students, teachers and clients moving back and forth, in and out, around the salon. The energy was high, the soft sounds of quiet conversation between students and instructors barely audible, the anticipation and excitement that only comes with the mastery of new skills and forging new territory hung in the air, creating an electric vibe. I sat down in the quaint waiting room to fill out some quick paperwork and sunk softly into the leather armchair. Glancing around, I noted the well laid out space, clean lines, brick red accent wall, shiny wooden floors and floor to ceiling mirrors. Utilitarian, yet stylish. Practical, but posh. I was first taken back to the esthetics room, and my esthetician did a quick consult to determine what type of facial was best suited to my skin. She concluded that a Balancing Facial using Bioelements skin care products was in order, and directed me into the bathroom to change into a comfy robe and slippers. I then met her in the treatment room, where I was situated on a warm, sheet-covered table. There were several other clients receiving services in the same room, but the overall atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. She pulled my hair away from my face in a soft terry cloth band, and wrapped my body in the sheet as I sunk into the padded table and took several deep breaths to relax. The Balancing Facial began with a light, gentle cleanser to rid my skin of impurities and makeup, and continued with a Power Peptide toner. She gently exfoliated with Quick Refiner, and added a Stress Solution serum and Oxygenation mask. She instructed me to relax and continue taking deep breaths. After working through my skin, massaging and performing several blackhead extractions, she performed a light microdermabrasion procedure, to promote the growth of healthy skin cells and a radiant complexion. To finish she moisturized with Bioelements Absolute Moisture, and concluded with a regenerating Vitamin C conditioner, which left my skin dewy and hydrated to the touch. The esthetician instructed me to drink plenty of water after the treatment, and in the days going forward to maintain the correct balance for my skin's texture. After the facial I was feeling very relaxed, but my hair looked a bit disheveled (a look to which frequent facial clients can relate)! I was quickly taken back to the shampoo center near the rear of the salon, and given a deep conditioning treatment with Rusk products for colored hair. My stylist treated me to a scalp massage and then my conditioned hair was wrapped in plastic. From there I was invited to sit under a hot hair dryer for approximately ten minutes. After the conditioning period elapsed, my stylist took me back to the wash station and rinsed my hair. When we arrived back at my stylist's station she proceeded to round brush my hair, blowing it dry in long, fluid strokes. She gave my 'do bounce and body, and finished with a flat iron to smooth down any errant fly aways. I left with luxurious locks, straight and stylish hair and my skin felt hydrated and healthy, with a lasting glow.
