When we think of the word "aqua" the words purity, calm and refreshing might come to mind. Add in luxurious treatments and a serene atmosphere and we've got the perfect definition for Aqua Salon in Edgebrook. This salon is focused on relaxation, tranquility and rejuvenation all within an elegantly appointed location on Devon Avenue. In opening Aqua Salon, owners Noel and Brad Buican set out to create a new and invigorating salon experience. They decorated the space in soothing blue hues, saved space with drying stations that fold into the ceiling, and added some delicate ambiance with waterfalls to accent the decor. Driven by a passion for hair and a goal to be as environmentally friendly as possible, Noel and Brad want to make each client's visit one she won't soon forget. Greeted by a friendly staff member and Sinatra music in the background, Noel, the salon's owner, guided me to her station and we discussed what I hoped to change with my hair. My long, blond, highlighted hair was looking a bit too beach friendly and, though I desired to keep the overall shade, I hoped to darken it with a few subtle lowlights. Noel agreed and mixed the perfect blend of Redken hair color. As Noel was applying the color, she mentioned that Redken products are made by some of the hair industry's best known leaders, and the company also provides education and salon training to make sure colorists using Redken products have the best training and, thus, the most satisfied clients. While my new hue was processing, I was handed a glass of wine before my nails were treated to Aqua's "Girl-On-The-Go Manicure", which is an add-on to any service, for those that love multi-tasking, including myself. After enjoying a wash, condition and rinse with Pureology products, it only took one glimpse in the mirror to be totally happy with my color results. For the last part of my treatment, Noel offered a trim to my fine hair and bangs, plus a Blow Out and Style. As she dried and styled my hair, Noel offered some tips and tricks so I could recreate the look at home. Armed with a new 'do and the secrets behind it, I can achieve the just-left-the-salon look every morning before I head out for the day.
