DESTINATION: DOWNTOWN DISNEY

Upon entering the security gate for The Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa you are directed to the check-in lobby with a smile and the words "Welcome Home." This mantra is used widely to guests as they continue their stay at the resort. Though simple enough the "Welcome Home" greeting does seem to instill a sense of belonging, heartfelt welcome and "Coming Home." Certainly a nice way to begin a stay at one of Disney's newest vacation clubs.

The Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, with its Victorian themed architecture and historic influence of horse racing, is steeped in traditions of the classic upstate New York country retreats of the late 1800's, offering stately lodging, rambling grounds with rolling hills and placid lakes, dining, shopping, art galleries and spa. The motto for the resort is "Health, History and Horses" To which an extra measure of hospitality is added.

The resort consists of studio, one and two bedroom, and grand villas. The studio villa sleeps four, the one-bedroom sleeps four adults plus one child under age3, the two-bedroom sleeps eight adults plus one child under age3 and the grand villa, which has two floors, sleeps 12. Dining and shopping at the artist's palette, in the carriage house, provides prepackaged and fresh-made foods, resort wear, logo merchandise, grocery items, magazines, newspapers, infant supplies and sundry items.

The high rock spring pool, which is the main pool, has a slide with twists and turns through the rock work, a children's themed interactive wet play area with pop-jet fountains and a pool bar. The community hall offers an arcade, ping pong, foosball, Playstation 2, board games, coloring and craft activities, and special pottery and craft activities that change every day, a really great place to take the children for an hour or two of kiddie fun.

The walkway to downtown Disney runs along the back of the resort and a ferry dock is located behind the carriage house. The ferry runs from Saratoga Springs to old Key West then to downtown Disney's marketplace. Bus transportation to all the Disney parks and to downtown Disney is available at designated pick up points throughout the resort.

The spa at Saratoga Springs offers a choice of massage therapies, facials, body treatments, hydro massage therapies, hand and foot treatments and spa packages which will wash the world away and restore your sense of psychological and physical well-being. Now this is really a "Welcome Home."
